FX Photo Studio Pro App Reviews

Good app..

Good app, it does what it says. And does it well. Is it possible to have a new category under "effects" that would regroup all the instagram-like effects? (exisiting ones like [Color Burn at 10/10] and new ones). Its hard for beginners in photography to replicate those effects manually. I was hoping when buying this app to be able to apply instagrams photo effects on the whole image instead of the 400x400 limit. Cheers

Great App, but not complete! :-(

I got the iPad App of FX Photo Studio HD and it is great, so I bought the much more expensive version for the Mac. But what a bad surprise: Most of my preferred FX filters like Burnt Paper, Rusted Metal and Dirty Picture are missing. Thats a bad deal to pay a lot more for less! Please add the missing stuff in the next update and youll get five *****!

A really useful tool

I keep turning to this app to help complete work and effects that I am using for my many photos. It turns out consistently good work and always has the effect that I am looking for. As far as I am concerned it is both a useful tool and a regular source of inspiration. Oh, and the price is right.

Pas comparable à Instagram

I was looking for an aplication similar to Instagram on Iphone. Im disappointed. Several effects are very basic, or too pronounced to be interesting. This software is fun but not interesting for photographers // Je recherchais une application semblable à ce que fait Instagram sur Iphone, je suis déçu. Plusieurs effets sont très basiques ou beaucoup trop prononcés pour être intéressants.

Sorry MacPhun...

…I wanted to love this application but dont. I didnt find the interface "intuitive" or the photo editing process "effortless". The effects arent great and the "Frames" are all but useless. Will sadly rot in the "Wasted Money" drawer of my Mac OS X dashboard.

Bad Choice

I for one have grown very familiar with Adobe Photoshop and was looking for a more affordable version for when I am at home versus when I am at work. This app does nothing to help you improve your photo aside from letting you pick a filter and adjusting the filter to your liking, which you can pretty much almost do on Instagram. This was a very disappointing purchase and I hope that my feedback will help the people who will see this in the future so that they will not make the mistake I made.

Good App!

This is a very good FX app - particularly for beginners in photo editing. Its simple to use and has a vast array of effects and the intensity of those effects can be modified for personal preferences. Posting to social media like Facebook is convenient and reliable as well!

Awesome app

Im a beginner and are having a lot of fun with this application. Its very easy to use and produces fantastic images. Could you add Instagram to the "share" media?

Good enough

Pretty simplistic….there are other similar programs for less money…plastic bullet and pixlr among others.

Great App!

I absolutely love this app! Its fun, simple and has tons of options for different effects. I use this to add effects to pictures I post for my facebook fan pages. Fans loves the pics :)

Adds Background to .PNG files

If you have a lovely .png file that youd like to add effects to, beware. This program will add a random (yes, its different each and every time!) background to your photo. Silly.

Simple and Easy

Offers a selection of "effects", frames and your typical basic adjustments. What I basically paid for was the effects since I do not use frames, and the basic adjustments are already in iPhoto Disappointed no text feature. Its best feature is in ease of use. Value for money - so so.

helpful hints

Im an absolute beginner and Im writing this review in order to suggest some things I would find helpful in order to use this app successfully. I think for the experts who create these apps its hard to get into beginners mind and understand that we can really get frustrated and give up. Heres an example: The first couple of times I used the app to make a black and white photo from a colour one, so an object within the photo could be in colour while the rest of the photo was black and white I failed. It was likely me thrashing about and pushing the wrong button (save or apply) that caused my Mac to crash (twice). I emailed for help and the techs got back to me right away but they asked for info on this Mac that I couldnt find. I didnt use the program again for a few weeks but today I gave it another try. I created a beautiful pink bleeding heart (thats a flower) in the midst of a black and white photo. A few times I had to redo the erasing in areas I had already covered, I dont know how that happened. I finished and emailed the photo to myself successfully. I also saved it but Im not sure I can find it. Suggestions: Have the program say where its saving to. Have a manual on line with simple step by step instructions ie: when do I press the apply button? (I think I dont do it after working on the photo because thats when it crashes the Mac.) Yes I have looked at one on line help site which was somewhat helpful. Have phone support please. Give us an option to work through some of the effects program with one of your photos in a call and response type of learning environment. After an initial time of frustration (absolute beginner remember) Ive had a success experience so I may now be using the program more often. Its an exciting program with lots of effects I can hardly wait to be able to use it.

Great idea, needs performance optimization

I really like the breadth of functionality of this app, and the UI is pretty good as well. Unfortunately it suffers from some real performance problems. Adding more than one filter or a frame and filter to any image causes ever subsequent operation to beachball for > 15 seconds. Clicks, menus, all of them. The work-around is to save your image after each operation, quit the app, and relaunch it with the saved image. Frustrating but seems to make it performant. Note: this is on a 2.7 GHz Core i& with 16 gigs of RAM.

Awesome

Good app, easy to use, hope need more function.

Weekend Warrior

it incredible what styles you can make with this app !!! I found it was easy to use and my boring pictures had potential after a few clicks , 2 thumbs up !!!

awesome effects

Simple but very creative and effective worth the money

Outstanding App !!

I am not a pro photographer, but this app. is certainly worth the money .You can add multiple effects to a specific photo, providing you with endless creativity.Check out their learning videos that show you how to use the app.Very helpful.Wo,nt be dissappointed with this app!

A most-welcome non-silo app

This app gets a HUGE thumbs-up for avoiding the single greatest failing of both iPhoto and Aperture: their requirement that images be imported into their own silos/databases. FX Studio Pro will work with image files in their native format, in whatever directory(ies) are desired. I can leave my images in a directory structure that is both familiar to me from years of working with Photoshop and other apps and also immediately accessible to any other app in which I may want to use my images. No import/export time and hassles… monster benefit for those who have many thousands of images and use them in many different ways. FX Studio Pro has a good interface for reviewing images, and a decent (if basic) suite of tools for manipulating them. It’s not a replacement for Photoshop by any means, maybe not even for Aperture, but for quick easy review and minor touch-ups of images, it’s a winner.

Very easy to use!

I am not really into digital enhancement of pictures but this app is really easy to use and gives great results. Tried Photoshop but way too complicated for me.
